A princess in soft pastels

After seeing Vicky Ross'  video Skin Tone demo pastel acrylic on YouTube, she inspired me to take my pastel colors out of the box and try it out. I did not use soft pastel for quite some time, so thanks to Vicky I'm doing it again!
I tried to make a portrait of princess Maria Louise van Hessen Kassel (1688-1765). She was an ancestor of the Dutch royals and a lot of European royals as well.  I'm involved in a cultural history project about her life.

Happy Easter tags

Happy Easter to you! I made a few multi media tags with a spring/bunny/egg theme. I love the little pictures of the Easterbunnies. So cute. :)!

Foarhinne Friday Freebie 1

To all vintage freebie lovers: from now on I will try to post each Friday of the week a new vintage image. Recently I bought three bound volumes of full year 'Katholieke Illustratie' dating 1868-1869, 1871-1872, 1873-1874. Those magazines are filled with exquisite illustrations and alpha. It will take a while to scan all the illustrations, I reckon there are at least 500 images to scan. It will be such a treasure for vintage scrapbooking!

Here is the first Foarhinne Friday Freebie. The source of the image is 'De Katholieke Illustratie', tweede jaargang, 's Hertogenbosch/Amsterdam, 1868-1869, pag. 1.  'Aan den Lezer' translates as 'To the reader'; 'Een blijde toekomst' as 'A happy future'.

All images are the original size. Right click to download/save.

Ecce Homo

Today it is Good Friday. I've been reflecting the Passion of Christ in my art journal.
John 19:5  When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, "Here is the man!"

It's spring: mixed media tags

Last week I made these mixed media tags with a spring theme.

I tried my light box for taking pictures, but I think the background is a bit too gray. Ofcourse Moeska -my cat - had to see what I was doing when I photographed my tags. He's so curious! :)
